ABOUT SHANNON

Shannon Wise, MSN, APRN, CNM, PMH-C

Shannon is a Nurse Midwife, Perinatal Mental Health specialist, and educator with over 30 years of experience supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and the early seasons of motherhood. Her work is rooted in helping women reconnect with the strength, wisdom, and grounding that already live within them—resources they can return to not just in pregnancy and postpartum, but throughout their lives.

After sitting with thousands of women in labor and in perinatal mental health coaching, Shannon witnessed a powerful truth: women don’t only need information—they need tools that help them feel steady in their bodies, calm in their minds, and connected to their own intuition. This understanding inspired Ease the Transition, her signature childbirth education and wellbeing program.

Drawing on both the principles of yoga and evidence-based childbirth education, Shannon offers a holistic approach that supports the whole woman. She weaves movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and emotional awareness into practical preparation, giving women skills they can use in labor—and long after their baby arrives.

Warm, grounded, and deeply supportive, Shannon creates space where women feel seen, heard, and empowered. Her intention is simple: to help women know where to turn inside themselves when life becomes challenging, and to trust that the power they seek is already within them.

“May you meet each transition with steadiness, each challenge with compassion, and yourself with love.”

BLOG POST #1 - Ease the Transition: A Mindful Prenatal Wellness Program

Supporting Mothers Through Evidence-Informed Education, Movement & Mindfulness

Pregnancy is a time of extraordinary change. It can be joyful and exciting—but it can also feel overwhelming, uncertain, and emotionally demanding. In the United States, perinatal anxiety and depression affect 1 in 5 women, making them the most common complications of pregnancy today.

At Easy Day Yoga, we believe every woman deserves support, stability, and tools that help her feel grounded during this transition. That’s why we’re honored to introduce Ease the Transition, a new prenatal program designed to nurture mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Why Maternal Mental Health Matters

Evidence shows that trustworthy, in-person prenatal education and consistent emotional support can significantly reduce stress and improve mental health during pregnancy.

Women who feel informed and connected experience:

● Lower levels of anxiety

● Greater confidence in their changing bodies

● Improved emotional resilience

● A smoother transition into postpartum

Mindful movement and breathwork—core elements of this program—also help regulate the nervous system, reduce cortisol, support sleep, and enhance overall well-being.

About the Program

Ease the Transition blends gentle movement, mindfulness tools, and evidence-based prenatal education to support the whole person. The program is led by Shannon Wise, CNM, PMH-C, a midwife and perinatal mental health specialist with more than 30 years of experience walking alongside women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.  Our approach reflects the WHO midwifery model of care, which emphasizes partnership, communication, individualized support, and empowering women with trustworthy information.

What You’ll Learn & Experience

This program provides a grounding, supportive space where mothers can:

Move through pregnancy with ease, using gentle strengthening, stretching, and mobility practices

Breathe with techniques that calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and support emotional steadiness

Learn evidence-based information from a consistent, trusted provider

Connect with other mothers in a warm, supportive community

Build confidence for the journey ahead

It is designed to help women feel secure, informed, and emotionally supported—before, during, and after birth.

A More Comprehensive Experience

To deepen the benefits of this program, we encourage participants to also attend our weekly Prenatal Yoga classes. These classes reinforce breath, movement, and mindfulness tools learned in the program and help build a supportive yoga community.

You’re Not Alone. We’re Here to Walk Beside You.

Motherhood is a profound transition—and you deserve holistic, compassionate support along the way. Ease the Transition offers a nurturing path forward, helping you step into motherhood with grounding, clarity, and confidence.

BLOG POST #2 - The Importance of Evidence-Based Childbirth Education

Why What You Learn Shapes How You Birth

In today’s world, expectant parents are surrounded by information—especially on social media. Swipe after swipe, it’s easy to encounter conflicting advice, dramatic stories, or fear-based content that leaves you feeling more overwhelmed than empowered. But when it comes to preparing for birth, the source of your information matters.

At Easy Day Yoga, we believe childbirth education should be grounded in evidence, mindfulness, and practical tools that build confidence—not anxiety. That’s why our approach draws from research-backed methods and holistic principles inspired by modern programs like GentleBirth, which emphasize mindfulness, brain training, and intentional practice.

Why Social Media Isn’t Childbirth Education

While social platforms can create community, they’re not designed to teach safe, reliable, or evidence-based information. Algorithms reward intensity, not accuracy—which means you’re more likely to see dramatic stories than helpful guidance.

Social media often leads to:

● Increased fear around labor

● Confusion about what’s normal

● Unrealistic expectations

● Heightened anxiety during pregnancy

Fear-based content has been shown to increase tension in the body—which can impact both the emotional and physical experience of labor. This is why trusted, in-person childbirth education is so important.

What Evidence-Based Education Gives You

Learning from a trained, experienced educator provides:

● Accurate, up-to-date information

● Clear understanding of options and decision-making

● Lower anxiety and increased confidence

● Tools to navigate labor calmly and effectively

● skills that support you in every type of birth

You don’t just learn “about birth”—you learn how to work with your body through every stage.

Mindfulness, Practice & Brain Training: A More Holistic Way to Prepare

Our childbirth education offerings are shaped by modern neuroscience and holistic principles found in programs like GentleBirth. These tools help parents prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically—not just intellectually.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness teaches you how to stay present and calm, even when labor becomes intense. During birth, presence = power.

Brain Training

Through repetition and positive mental conditioning, you retrain the brain to approach birth with confidence rather than fear. This reduces anxiety and strengthens coping during labor.

Practice

Birth is a skill that benefits from rehearsal. We guide you through comfort measures, breathing techniques, and coping tools you can practice throughout pregnancy so they become second nature.

Holistic Preparation

Our approach also includes:

● Movement and positions for comfort and progress

● Pelvic mobility and functional strength

● Nutritional guidance for energy and stamina

● Breathwork for emotional regulation

● Partner involvement and support strategies

This is birth preparation that supports the whole person

Why In-Person Learning Makes a Difference

While online content can help, nothing replaces the value of learning directly from a skilled teacher who can answer questions, demonstrate techniques, and personalize what you learn.

In-person childbirth education offers:

● Hands-on practice

● Real-time feedback

● A calming, supportive environment

● Space to process fears and get clear answers

● Community with other expectant parents

This type of experience is protective for emotional well-being and builds real, embodied confidence.

Your Birth Experience Begins With Your Preparation

Birth is unpredictable—but your sense of readiness doesn’t have to be. At Easy Day Yoga, our childbirth education is grounded in a simple philosophy: Evidence over algorithms. Confidence over fear. Mindfulness over overwhelm. Preparation over scrolling. Your body knows how to give birth. We’re here to give your mind, your partner, and your nervous system the support they need to trust that wisdom.
